Another Illinois high school athlete claims he was hazed

Another student has come forward alleging he was hazed as a new member of the Maine West High School’s boys’ soccer team in Des Plaines, Illinois.

The unnamed player says he was held down, physically and sexually assaulted by older teammates during a “campus run” at the school in September 2012, according to the lawsuit filed Monday.

The player is the fifth athlete at the school to come forward regarding hazing on the school’s baseball and soccer teams.

In May one former coach of the team was charged with multiple misdemeanor of hazing, battery and failing to report the abuse as mandated by law as a teacher and coach. Prosecutors claim former coach Michael Divincenzo was aware of the abuse occurring before and after team practices and did nothing to stop it. A second coach was not charged but like Divincenzo was fired by the district school board.

A representative for the district would not comment on the new lawsuit, according to reports.
